New Tuesday Studio - Drawing and Painting from Life in Guildford

Carmine Crimson Studios in Guildford is introducing a new Tuesday Studio course this September, offering artists the opportunity to develop their observational drawing and painting through practice from life.

Led by award-winning artist and experienced tutor Stephanie Mills, each studio day combines still life and cast drawing or painting in the morning with portrait drawing and painting from a professional life model in the afternoon. The fundamentals of observational drawing and painting including proportion, value, form, colour mixing and paint handling will be explored.

Stephanie will provide demonstrations and personalised tuition throughout the day, while encouraging students to develop their own approach and work at their own pace.

Artists painting portrait studies in a studio with busts, easels, and draped black cloth, focused and quiet.

The course is suitable for a range of abilities, from those looking to build their confidence working from life to more experienced artists wanting regular practice and the opportunity to develop their work in a supportive studio environment.

As well as focused tuition, our Tuesday Studio is intended to be an enjoyable and sociable day of art making: a chance to spend time at the easel, meet other artists and become part of a friendly studio community.
